Built for everyone.
Our commitment to access — and how to tell us when we miss.
Last updated: September 17, 2026
Florida Mermaid is committed to making our website and products accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We believe accessibility is part of good design — not a checkbox.
What we're doing
Our site is built to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Specifically, we've focused on:
- Keyboard navigation — every interactive element (menus, modals, the cart drawer, forms) works without a mouse
- Screen reader compatibility — semantic HTML, ARIA roles where needed, alternative text on meaningful images, dialog roles on modals
- Color contrast — we test our color pairings against WCAG ratios and adjust when they fail
- Reduced motion — if you have
prefers-reduced-motionset in your operating system, we automatically disable animations, the splash screen, and decorative effects - Touch targets — all interactive controls are at least 44×44 pixels on mobile
- Form labels — every form input has an associated label, error messages, and the right keyboard / autofill hints
- Skip link — pressing Tab on any page reveals a "Skip to content" link so screen reader users don't have to traverse the nav every time
Things we're still working on
We're a young brand and we're learning. We know we're not perfect. If something doesn't work for you on this site, please tell us — we'll fix it.

Third-party content
We use a small number of third-party services (fonts from Google, video hosting). We don't control how they handle accessibility, but we evaluate them before adding them and choose providers with strong accessibility practices.
